Anti-Asian racism\, over the past two years\, continues to trend upwards in Canada according to research. Panel guests as we dive into the much needed conversation about diversity\, equity\, and inclusion\, the anti-Asian racism trends in Canada\, hindering Asian stereotypes in leadership roles\, and more (50 MINS). \n  \nEpisode 9 | Guest: Naheed Nenshi \nThe former mayor of Calgary\, Naheed Nenshi is a passionate Calgarian\, an accomplished business professional\, and a community leader with a solid track record of getting things done. Naheed provides some profound insight on the creation of empathy\, the value of setting aside our egos\, the importance of letting go of our own defensiveness and assumptions\, as well as other steps we can take toward equity in our country (34 MINS) \n  \nThe CCDI is a forward-looking social organization with research and learning woven into our DNA\, tracing how people identify alongside demographic trends within the Canadian workplace to move employers from diversity to inclusion. \nFind the podcast recordings here: \n\nhttps://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/leader-talks-with-anne-marie-pham-powered-by-ccdi/id1620621531\nhttps://open.spotify.com/show/41vzmU79YhmcyDSFaMTQIz

SUMMARY:Leadership in Action
DESCRIPTION:Join us on February 19th as we hear from two more incredible female leaders in our “Leadership in Action” event! In the second of our series\, Shae MacPherson will moderate a discussion with large enterprise leaders\, Tasha Giroux (RBC’s Regional Vice President for Commercial Financial Services in Alberta & Territories)\, and Kathy Fitzgerald (University of Alberta’s Interim Director\, Planned Giving). \nCome learn about transformational leadership within this sector\, and hear how great leaders are empowering people through authentic\, inclusive leadership. \nYour Speaker\, Kathy Fitzgerald: \nKathy Fitzgerald has worked as a professional fundraiser in Edmonton serving organizations of various sizes and purposes since 1993. A passion for philanthropy and a strong belief in the impact it has on society at home and around the world is what drives Kathy to do better each day. \nKathy is currently the Interim Director\, Planned Giving at the University of Alberta where she works with an outstanding team of fundraising professionals across the campus. She believes that working collaboratively is the key to achieving success – both for donors and the programs they support. Kathy is honoured to lead a team that helps alumni and friends develop thoughtful gift plans that will ultimately build a better society for us all. \nKathy has a daughter with a passion for the Arts\, which makes Kathy a self-proclaimed Patron of the Arts and “professional audience member”! When Kathy is not watching theatre\, you can find her at home knitting socks with her cat. \nYour Speaker\, Tasha Giroux: \nAs Regional Vice President for Business Financial Services in Alberta & Territories\, Tasha leads a team of professionals providing multifaceted financial services and superior advice for business clients. \nThrough diverse industry specialization\, RBC’s business financial services professionals deliver a differentiated client experience. She’s held a range of leadership roles\, including Regional Operating Officer before moving into Business Markets. \nTasha holds an MBA from Dalhousie University\, a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Winnipeg and her Personal Financial Planner designation. She is an active community volunteer and has served on the Board of the YWCA of Calgary. She currently sits on the STARS Air Ambulance Board. She is engaged in a number of community Advisory Committees\, supporting key stakeholders in education\, policymaking and private enterprise. She is an active ambassador of the RBC Diversity and Inclusion Blueprint including regular external engagements in support of inclusive workplaces. Outside of work\, Tasha enjoys many sporting activities and spending time with her husband and two children Zachary and Mackenzie\, both University of Alberta students. \n  \nMeet Shae MacPherson\, Your Moderator: \nShae is a dedicated and passionate professional with over 20 years of experience in private business.
